Step one, you say, "We need to talk."
He walks, you say, "Sit down. It's just a talk."
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came
(Name) stared out the window not paying attention to the teacher. The boy beside her was poking (Name) in the arm trying to get her to look his way. He waved a hand in front of her face and she turned.
“Oh sorry Kurloz” (Name) said.
“What’s wrong (Name)?” Kurloz signed.
“I was just thinking about (Bf name). I’m not sure I really want to be with him anymore” she said.
“Why is that? I thought you loved him” Kurloz had a quizzical look on his face.
“I thought I did, but he’s really over bearing. Every time I try to get sometime for myself he gets really upset. I’m afraid he’s gonna hurt me.” (Name) had a sad look in her eyes. Kurloz’s eyes widened.
“I agree. If you ever feel unsafe let me know,” Kurloz signed.
“I will,” (Name) said.
Let him know that you know best
'Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
Pray to God, he hears you
And I pray to God, he hears you
“No I’ve had enough! I don’t love you anymore!” (Name) yelled.
“I won’t let you leave (Name). You are mine and mine alone,” (Bf name) said in a tone (Name) could not quite pinpoint.
“I am not yours. I don’t belong to you. You don’t own me. I can leave if I want to and I will!” Tears flowed down (Name)’s cheeks. She turned to leave but (Bf name) grabbed her wrist and spun her around.
“You’re not going anywhere.” The punch came out of nowhere and stung hard on (Name)’s cheek. It was followed by a sweet kiss to the same spot. Another punch followed then another kiss. A punch. A kiss. A punch. A kiss. (Name) cried out, pleading with (Bf name) to stop. But her cries fell to deaf ears. The assault continued “See I love you,” he said, “so don’t ever think of leaving ever again. With that (Bf name) walked out the front door of (Name)’s house, leaving her a crying bruised mess on the floor.
As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came
A few hours later (Name) got up and reached for her phone on the coffee table.
‘Kurloz I need you to come over right now. I’m scared’ (Name) sent the text and not long after a message came through.
‘I’m on my way.’
Ten minutes passed before there was a knock on the door. (Name) cautiously made her way to the door. When she opened the door Kurloz stood on the porch. His hand instantly went up to the large bruise forming on her face. (Name) collapsed into Kurloz’s arms and started to cry again. Kurloz let himself in and helped (Name) to the couch. He quickly left to grab some ice to give to (Name).
“Did (Bf name) do this to you” he signed.
(Name) nodded. “I tried to break it off but he got upset and hit me” she sobbed.
“Don’t worry. I’ve got you” Kurloz signed then pulled (Name) close to him. “I promise I won’t let him hurt you again.” (Name) smiled and nuzzled into Kurloz’s chest.
And where did I go wrong? I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
