Chicks and Kisses - Karkat x Reader

  It was a beautiful easter day and you were out with your best friend, and slight crush, Karkat Vantas. Where were you exactly? The petting zoo your friend Nepeta worked at. She had told you that the week before a bunch of chicks had hatched so what better to do on easter. Of course Karkat had been telling you what a stupid idea this was the whole way there.

"Really this is the most stupid thing I've ever heard of doing on easter" Karkat said for the millionth time since leaving your house.

"Just shut up would you. We're here ok" you said rolling your eyes. You bought your tickets and walked into the petting zoo.

"(Name)! Karkitty! I'm so glad you guys came!" Nepeta yelled once you were inside. She tackled you and karkat in a hug.

"It's nice to see you too Nep." You giggled at her child like behavor. Karkat just grumbled behind you.

"I'm sorry I can't stay and talk, but I have to get back to work. We can talk when I'm on my brake." Nepeta happly skipped off. You giggled and turned to face Karkat.

"So where do you want to go first?" You asked with a smile.

"Home" Somehow you just knew you were going to get that answer.

"No way. Lets go see the bunnies first." You grabbed Karkat's hand and pulled him over to one of the pens.

  Most of the morning went this way. You and Karkat going from pen to pen. Mostly it was just you holding the animals although you did get a very funny picture of Karkat holding a bunny. You saw bunnies, goats (which didn't go well because one tried to eat Karkat's sweater), and sheep. Eventualy lunch rolled around and you and Karkat found a picnic bench to sit at. You had packed some sandwiches and fruit for the both of you. "Here you are" you said pulling out a ham sandwich for Karkat. He looked over it intently. "Geez I didn't poison it. It's just ham" you said.

"I was just trying to figure out what the fuck it was" Karkat half yelled before talking a bite. You shook your head and took a bite of your sandwich. In no time you both had devoured your sandwiches and the fruit. You reached into your bag and pulled out a container of sugar cookes shaped like bunnies and eggs.

"I made some cookies last night for easter. Do you want one?" You asked showing Karkat the cookies. He nodded and reached to grab a cookie.

"May I have a cookie?" A framillar voice asked. You looke over to see Nepeta leaning on the table.

"FUCK! DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" Karkat yelled nearly dropping his cookie. You and Nepeta just laughed. "IT'S NOT FUCKING FUNNY!"

"Karkat there are children around" you said. You handded the container of cookies to Nepeta.

"Meow! These are really good (Name)!" Nepeta exclamed.

"Thanks alot" you said with a smile. You put the container of cookies back in your bag.

"I have my break now, so I wanted to show you the chicks" Nepeta said. She grabbed you and Karkat by the wrists and pulled you towards a pen. When you looked in the pen you saw at leasta dozen little yellow fuzz balls.

"Awww~ Look at them. There all so cute." You said jumpping up and down in excitment. Nepeta handed you and Karkat (much to his reluctance) a small hand full of feed. You stepped into the pen careful not to step on any of the chicks and knelt down. As soon as you extended your hand full of feed to the chicks they swarmed around your hand. You giggled as they jumpped around eachother to get at the food. When you looked up at Karkat you saw him kneling down and holding a chick in his hand. He was being so gentil with it. Stroking it softly on the head. You carefully pulled out your phone and took a picture without him knowing.

  Once the feed in your hand was gone the chicks dispersed and you stood up. Karkat had let go of the chick long before and stood waiting out side the pen.

"Took you long enough" Karkat grumbled. You just laughed. He had no idea that you'd seen him with the chick.

"I think we should go over there next" Karkat pointed to a stall with horses and rides. You walked over to the booth.

"Could I get two horses?" You asked the man.

"I'm afraid I only got one horse in right now but she can carry two." The man at the booth replyed.

"Alright then we'll take that." You bought the tickets and the man lead you into the stable. Karkat got on the horse first then you followed sitting infront of him. You took the regins and Karkat wrapped his arms around your waist. You blushed a light pink and were glad he couldn't see your face. You started out into the enclosed field. Karkat didn't say a word, which was odd seeing as he never shut up. After a minuet or so you broke the scilence. "So why'd you wanta come here?" You asked. Karkat rested his head on your shoulder. You blush worsened and you worried that he could feel the heat eminating from your cheeks.

"I wanted to tell you something in private" Karkat said. He didn't sound like his usual self. He sounded softer and almost sweet.

"O-oh, what is that?" You tried to keep your voice calm.

"I'm flushed for you (Name)." Before you could respond Karkat turned your head with his hand and captured your lips in a kiss. After a few seconds you pulled away.

"I love you too Karkat."

  "So~ What exactly did he do" Nepeta asked while you waited for Karkat to come out of the bathroom.

"He kissed me" you said. Nepeta bounced excitedly beside you. "Your plan worked perfectly."

"Of course it did silly" Nepeta said.

"I also got this" you showed Nepeta the picture of Karkat and the chick.

"Blackmail" you both said.
